Denver Mike – Ghetto Girl (ft. T-Pain & Walter French)

Denver Mike use to be the manager of the Ying Yang Twins. To this day, YYT can still go and perform in front of thousands because their songs and vibe is classic. Denver Mike wanted to recapture that same vibe. When brainstorming the song idea with friend and artist Walter French, Walter had just been sent the song’s beat from super producer Mike Free, it was a perfect fit. After laying the majority of the track, Mike elicited the help of T-Pain, who immediately added his signature auto-tuned harmonies, further cementing its melodic soundscape. According to Mike,  “It was just a natural process”

Quote on the song:
“Ghetto Girl” featuring T-Pain & Walter French, was inspired by the oft-forgotten vibe and energy of the 90’s and 00’s. A time when you could go to the club, dance and enjoy the night unencumbered by phones and social media. “Ghetto Girl” is an anthem for the ‘around the way’ girl. “There was always something special to me about a true ‘ghetto’ girl. I wanted to glorify her, but I didn’t want it to sound like your everyday, standard trap song.”
