Paws Up: A Dog-Friendly Beer Festival Is Coming to Colorado

Pawtoberfest is the dog-friendly event we need right now.

Colorado is known for many things, among them are our love of both beer and four-legged friends of the canine persuasion. And this Colorado Springs festival combines the two together in a spectacular fashion. Allow us to introduce the aptly named Pawtoberfest!

When: September 14, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
Where: Bear Creek Regional Park, Colorado Springs
Price: $45 adult ($50 at the door), $25 youth 13-17 ($30 at the door), 12 and under free

One of the only festivals in Colorado that not only allows but encourages pet owners to bring their pooch with them, Pawtoberfest is sponsored annually by the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region. Proceeds will go back to the organization to help care for the lost, homeless, abandoned, and abused animals that it serves. The event aims to raise $200,000, and has already reached $135,700 in donations!

The day kicks off at 9 a.m. with a two-mile dog walk that loops around the east part of Bear Creek Park. Over on the west side of the park, the Food Truck Court will open at 10 a.m., with beer tasting starting at 11 a.m. The fun goes all day with over 75 pet-related vendors, music, and demonstrations. Over three beverage partners are participating in the event.

There will also be pet contests going on all afternoon, beginning at 12:15 p.m., including costume, pooch smooch, and pet/owner look-alike. Competitions will be held at the Main Stage.

Tickets are on sale now through and include event wristband, unlimited tasting for adults, entry to the walk, festival, and an event t-shirt (while supplies last). Check out the event website and Facebook page for all the details and things you need to know before you head out. There are some parking restrictions, so read the fine print!

This sounds like one great way to get those pups some outdoor time, enjoy some tasty food and beverages, and spend time out in the park with friends (both two- and four-legged alike!).

Pawtoberfest is the start to many festivals in Colorado this fall celebrating beer but is one of the only ones we know of that lets dog attend too.
