Update: Meek Mills Apologizes to Vanessa Bryant Over Kobe Lyrics
Last week Meek Mill’s new song with Lil Baby leaked and Kobe Bryant fans were not happy with the lyrics that referenced Kobe. In the song titled “Don’t Worry (RIP Kobe)” Meek raps “Yeah, and if I ever lack, I’m goin’ out with my chopper, it be another Kobe.”
Of course Kobe passed away last January in a helicopter crash along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and 7 other people.
Vanessa Bryant addressed the song in her Instagram stories last night:
“Dear @meekmill, I find this line to be extremely insensitive and disrespectful. Period. I am not familiar with any of your music, but I believe you can do better that this. If you are a fan, fine, there’s a better way to show your admiration for my husband. This lacks respect and tact.”
UPDATE
Meek Mill tweeted that he apologized to Vanessa privately.
I apologized to her in private earlier today not to the public…Nothing I say on my page directed to a internet viral moment or the family of a grieving woman! If you care about someone grieving change the subject!
