Video: Beauty Pageant Winner has Crown Ripped Off Her Head by Another Beauty Queen
Pushpika De Silva, who won the title of “Mrs. Sri Lanka” on Sunday, says she was injured after her crown was forcefully removed from her head onstage by a former winner.
Pushpika De Silva’s crown was snatched off her head by Caroline Jurie, who won the pageant in 2019 and is currently the reigning Mrs. World.
Caroline Jurie, grabbed the crown off De Silva, claiming that for someone to be Mrs. Sri Lanka, she has to be married and that De Silva was divorced. Jurie stated, “There is a rule that prevents women who have already been married and are divorced, so I am taking steps to make the crown go to second place.” Jurie then placed the crown on the first runner up, who seemed thrilled with the stunning turn of events.
Pushpika De Silva stormed off the stage in tears.
De Silva actually had to go to the hospital to be treated for head injuries following the incident. She later explained on Facebook that she while she is separated from her husband, she is not divorced. She also plans to take legal action for the “unreasonable and insulting” way she was treated, writing, “A true queen is not a woman who snatches another woman’s crown, but a woman who secretly sets another woman’s crown.”
